Summer is on the way

With multiple heatwaves forecasted this year, the Summer is well and truly on its way. As it begins to get drier, and the sun comes out, now is the time to plan and carry out your maintenance.

GripClad have assisted many environment, forestry and other outdoor ‘premises’ in making their ramps, steps and walkways safer including National Trust, Environment Agency, Forestry Commission and many more.

How GripClad products can help?

Footbridges

Often wooden footbridges rot away and become dangerous, wooden replacements are short-term solutions as they will inevitably rot again. Instead, a new GRP Grating composite structure can be used which offers a long-term, slip resistant surface which won’t rot or corrode and is extremely strong and offers good drainage. This solution was used by the local authority at these Canal Works. Another common problem on footbridges is they become slippery when wet, which can be resolved with GRP anti-slip flat boards as they were at Nant-y-Bedd in the Brecon Beacon’s National Park.

Walkways

Wooden walkways can become slippery when wet and natural ground walkways can erode away with heavy footfall creating an uneven surface increasing trips and falls, sometimes Chicken Wire is used to fix this problem, but it isn’t fit for purpose. How can you solve these? Don’t fret GripClad have solutions to both of these problems. GRP Panels & Sheets can be secured to wooden walkways reducing the slip risk and Hollow Mats can be used on natural ground walkways to allow the natural surroundings to grow through whilst offering soil retention protection and an even surface to walk on.

Decking

Wet weather and wooden decking can be a lethal mixture – and we all know that a UK Summer is bound to include a bit of rain! How can you reduce this risk? Our GRP Decking strips are the answer. Whether you want to give your decking a new look or go for a more subtitle anti-slip solution our decking strips are available in a range of colours and sizes.
