GRP Gratings: An Anti-Slip Flooring Solution
At GripClad, our GRP gratings offer safety without compromise. Our GRP grating products are lighter, cheaper and more durable than traditional steel gratings.
Glass reinforced plastic gratings, sometimes referred to as fibreglass gratings (FRP gratings), are a versatile, cost effective and durable anti-slip solution for floors and walkways. As a leading supplier of anti-slip solutions, we offer GRP square moulded open mesh, minimesh gratings and pultruded grating for a vast range UK industries and applications.
Our GRP gratings are reinforced with vertical and horizontal continuous fibreglass strands, which are fully soaked in unsaturated polyester resin, providing excellent bi-directional strength and mechanical properties. This results in GRP gratings that offer a strength-to-weight ratio that consistently outperforms its metal counterparts.
At GripClad, we have over 20 years' experience in providing anti-slip solutions to businesses across the UK and Europe. Our GRP floor gratings have proven their reliability time and again and are the go-to anti-slip solution for many of our clients.

Why Choose GRP Gratings?
When it comes to cost, durability, safety and handling, you will find that GRP gratings will outperform their metal counterparts. You can now think beyond traditional metal gratings and find many situations where GRP gratings are the better alternative.
Fibreglass composite materials are replacing conventional materials and major asset-owners are fostering innovation and steadily increasing the use GRP grating for non-slip flooring. By combining fibreglass rovings with thermosetting resin, these gratings are proven to withstand the effects of corrosion and are highly impact resistant.
Our GRP gratings are easy to move because they are lighter than steel alternatives. They meet the same specified load requirements as steel and are more resistant to impact. Due to the wide variety of applications for GRP gratings, we offer a range of different sizes and resin systems to suit various environments.
Our gratings are all manufactured to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 standards.
Gripclad GRP gratings are versatile and reliable, making them suitable in a variety of situations including:
- Anti-Slip footbridges
- Non-slip stair grating
- Swimming pool overflow grates
- Anti-slip fibreglass Decking
- Non-slip catwalks & footbridges
- Removeable Grid Flooring
- Anti-Slip Drain Covers
- Grid walkway mesh
- Drainage Channel Grates
Excellent Anti-Slip Performance
The slip hazards of wet metal gratings can be avoided by replacing them with this lightweight, fibreglass alternative.
GRP gratings have a great reputation for their slip resistance and have an ‘Excellent ‘ pass in tests carried out to BS 7976-2:2002 making these grating ideal for use in water and around wet areas.

The resins we use in our fibreglass grating offer good corrosion resistance over a wide pH range. It is also highly resistant to wear, tear, impact and abrasion.
Our gratings can withstand a wide range of chemicals. If you have a specific requirement, get in touch for the test results on all chemicals.
GRP gratings also have high fire and weather resistance. No matter what happens, our grating will maintain its structure and reliability.
Our gratings meet the Class 1 Flame Spread rating of 25 or less, in accordance with ASTM E-84 Tunnel Test Method. If a flame spread requirement of less than 25 is required we can supply this bespoke. Get in touch today if you have specific requirements.
Our anti-slip products are ideal outside as well as inside. All of our GRP gratings are manufactured with high quality UV inhibitors to prevent degradation from UV rays.
Strength of GRP
In tests involving impact resistance and strength-to-weight ratio, GRP gratings consistently outperform their metal equivalents.
Just 38mm of gratings 1 metre wide, can easily withstand 1/2 ton per square metre. The performance improved when the width is reduced: at 300mm wide, the 28mm grating will withstand loads in excess of 12 tons.
This performance makes GRP gratings ideal for all pedestrian traffic and medium loadings.
Maintenance And Costs
You'll find GRP gratings easy to lift, transport, install and maintain. This is all thanks to their light weight and easy-clean design. Since they are resistant to weather erosion and chemical corrosion, you can enjoy a GRP grating for its entire 25 year life.
Manufactured according to ISO 9001, the structural integrity of the GRP gratings is high grade
