Mini mesh grating is a simple solution to unsafe access routes, replacing metal gratings and other accessible applications, with all-weather suitability, lightweight material and incredible anti-slip properties.
Mini Mesh GRP grating has all the benefits of our Standard Mesh Grating but with smaller 12mm x 12mm holes preventing small objects from falling through and complying with BS EN14122 Category B and the European 15mm ball falling test requirement. It makes it an excellent choice for pedestrian access ramps, catwalk grating or walkways in industrial facilities and chemical plants, especially on multi-level access platforms where objects falling through the mesh could land on people below. Mini Mesh is commonly chosen for Marinas and other outdoor leisure facilities because the closer spacing facilitates the smooth movement of small-wheeled vehicles (trollies, prams & buggies, luggage etc) and industrial equipment.
Also known as Marina Decking, it has been successfully installed in both inland water and coastal environments, including access bridges, berthing stations, slipways, yacht harbours & sailing clubs, marinas, jetties, floating pontoons and gangways. It’s corrosion resistant and is impervious to both salt and fresh water.
The integral gritted non-slip surface of Mini Mesh GRP Grating has been tested in accordance with BS 7976-2 (Coefficient of Friction Test). It provides exceptional traction on walkways subject to tidal inclines and is also algae and moss resistant.
Other benefits include:
- Non-conductive
- Stronger than steel gratings
- Fire-resistant tested to ASTM E84
- Different thicknesses depending on need
- Variety of resin systems available
- Small enough holes that people can walk on with ease
- Suitable for wheelchair access and trollies

Why grp (glass reinforced plastic)?
GRP is a composite made of resin-soaked fibreglass strands placed in both vertical and horizontal patterns. This bidirectional approach means that GRP is stronger than metal, while remaining lighter and more durable. During the process, aluminium oxide aggregate surface is added, which is an anti-slip grit, again creating a product that is safe for use, strong and anti-slip by manufacture, not as an afterthought.

GRIPCLAD® IS PROUD TO WORK WITH SOME GREAT BUSINESSES
Grp Mini Mesh for marinas
Thanks to its small square holes, at just 12mmx12mm, GRP Mini Mesh is perfectly suited for public-facing and trade-facing applications such as pontoons at marinas.
At marinas, where there is a high risk of sea spray, as well as access for tradespeople, members of the public and seafarers, Mini Mesh Grating ensures good drainage, while preventing small items falling through the mesh. It’s also more comfortable to walk on, is suitable for all footwear, and is also suitable for pushing wheels on, such as pushchairs, wheelchairs, pallets and trucks.
Because of the size of the holes within Mini Mesh Grating, it’s perfect for ensuring pedestrians have a safe, anti-slip access route to a variety of areas.
GRP Mini Mesh grating for external walkways
GRP is now first choice replacement on pontoons, harbour footbridges, slipways, jetties, gangways and safe access routes.
When compared to traditional timber bridges, GRP Mini Mesh has a greater service life, is resistant to the corrosion and rot that wood eventually gets, and most importantly, is slip resistant in any weather. Our GRP products are all tested to BS 7976-2:2002 and have an ‘Excellent’ pass.

National Park Safety
At a popular walking route in a national park, GripClad® was asked to supply a Mini Mesh solution that could not only create a safe access route but ensure the longevity of the area.
Rather than using timber, the area warden opted for GRP, as they knew this would last longer and the mesh structure let light through, allowing for the vegetation underneath to grow back.
