They can also go around corners, have access steps or ladders fitted from more than one direction, or be designed with a handrail on just one side if placed against a wall. There’s the option to add self-closing gates, chains, and lighting if required, and if that wasn’t enough, high contrast stair nosings are automatically added for increased safety and to reduce the risk of trips and falls in poor lighting.
So, why choose GRP Step Overs? No heavy lifting equipment is required as they are less than half their steel equivalent’s weight. Long-lasting and low-maintenance, Step Overs are easily installed, and most can be manually fitted in place.
As with all our fabrications, Step Overs are built to a minimum weight capacity of 5kN/m2, which is twice the current industry standard. This allows for the weight of two or three large workmen and all the tools and equipment they might carry.
Our Step Overs are all designed to meet the British Safety Standard regulations BS EN ISO 14122, BS EN 5394-1 and BS 4592-6. GRP Step Overs offer a high-strength composite construction, in addition to being dimensionally and thermally stable and manufactured to your individual specification.
Corrosion-resistant, non-conductive, and fire-resistant, GRP Step Overs are ideal for most applications, including roof-top access to private or government buildings, chemical plants, waste and water treatment plants, marine and offshore, petrochemical and power.
Usually supplied fully fabricated or in sections, GRP is less than half the weight of the steel equivalent, making it an ideal choice for rooftop walkways.
Typically constructed using high-quality Pultruded Structural Profiles, anti-slip GRP Grating and stairs with ergonomic GRP handrails, they remain safe in wet, icy, and even oily conditions.
They can be made to your own specifications, or you can choose to have one delivered ‘ready to go’ that you can install yourself.
