Looking for a solution to make your traditional sleepers safe?
Kings Hill Golf Club in Kent did just that, searching for many years and looking at various ideas from other golf clubs, including carpet, astro, tar and chips and the dreaded chicken wire, all in an effort to ensure safety and try to eliminate the slip issue.
A chance advertisement in a trade magazine sent them in our direction and highlighted our anti-slip sheets and panels. Before taking the plunge and placing a large order, they decided to pick one set of steps to put our product to the test and see how well it performed.
Our GripClad anti-slip sheets and panels arrived in pre-cut lengths and to the dimensions specified. The only requirement was for them to drill holes and ensure the cleats were screwed down with mastic to act as a cushioning agent.
So, how long does it take to fit our anti-slip sheets and panels?
A set of smaller steps can easily be completed in a couple of hours, and a larger set in a day. Once you’ve fitted one set, you’ll be well on your way to fitting the rest.
How easy is installation?
Our anti-slip sheets can be screwed, bolted, riveted or bonded onto surfaces including wood, concrete, steel, chequer plates and even on open mesh grating. Plus, as part of our complete service, we can nominate a professional installer if required.
What if there are sleepers that need replacing?
It’s simple; you can just remove the anti-slip sheet/panel from one sleeper and fit it to the next.
Since that first installation, over ten years ago, Kings Hill has purchased from us every year to complete all wooden surfaces around their course. Including ten sets of very large sleeper step installations, four sets of sleeper rails around teeing areas and ancillary surfaces and also service and mobility ramps around the Clubhouse.
The feedback from the club has been that our GRP anti-slip sheets and panels have been outstanding. They’ve not only coped with the wear and tear of traffic but also performed in all weathers.
What is the longevity of our anti-slip sheets and panels?
We pride ourselves on our high-quality products, and in ten years, our anti-slip sheets and panels haven’t deteriorated and still look as good now as they did then.
The club will continue to use our products around their golf course as it provides the most cost-effective solution, both time and longevity.
