GRP Gratings

ANTI-SLIP GRP GRATING

GRP or Glass Reinforced Plastic grating offers safety without compromise. It's lighter, cheaper and more durable than traditional steel gratings, offering unparalleled anti-slip protection.

This makes it ideal for walkways, gantries, raised flooring, platforms, drainage, trench covers, service risers, pontoons, platforms, ramps, inspections pits, rainwater harvesting, footbridges and more.

We offer GRIPCLAD® GRP square moulded open mesh, mini-mesh, and solid top covered grating for a vast range of UK industries and applications.

Our GRP gratings are reinforced with vertical and horizontal continuous fibreglass strands, fully soaked in unsaturated polyester resin. This provides excellent bi-directional strength and mechanical properties, creating a strength-to-weight ratio that consistently outperforms its metal counterparts.

At GRIPCLAD®, we have over 25 years' experience providing structural and sound anti-slip grating solutions to businesses across the UK and Europe.

Benefits of GRP Floor Gratings

Excellent Anti-Slip Performance

The slip hazards of wet metal gratings can be avoided by replacing them with this lightweight, fibreglass grating alternative.

GRP gratings have a great reputation for their slip resistance and have an ‘Excellent ‘ pass in tests carried out to BS 7976-2:2002 making them ideal for use in water and around wet areas.

GripClad’s GRP gratings are made from a fibreglass base in an isophthalic resin. With an aluminium oxide grit on top, bonded to the surface, a resilient structure is produced with superb underfoot traction. This produces the perfect non-slip solution, no matter the environment – wet, corrosive or with heavy footfall.

Specifications

Corrosion Resistance

Fibreglass grating offers good corrosion resistance over a wide pH range. It is also highly resistant to wear, tear, impact and abrasion.

Our gratings can withstand a wide range of chemicals. If you have a specific requirements, get in touch for the test results on all chemicals.

Chemical Resistance Data

Fire Resistance

GRP gratings also have high fire and weather resistance. No matter what happens, our grating will maintain their structure and reliability.

Our gratings meet the Class 1 Flame Spread rating of 25 or less, in accordance with ASTM E-84 Tunnel Test Method. If a flame spread requirement of less than 25 is required we can supply this bespoke made. Get in touch today if you have specific requirements.

Structural Specifications

Strength of GRP Grating

In tests involving impact resistance and strength-to-weight ratio, GRP gratings consistently outperform their metal equivalents.

Just 38mm of gratings 1 metre wide, can easily withstand 1/2 ton per square metre. The performance improved when the width is reduced: at 300mm wide, the 38mm grating will withstand loads in excess of 12 tons.

This performance makes GRP gratings ideal for all pedestrian traffic and medium loadings.

Maintenance and Costs

You'll find GRP gratings easy to lift, transport, install and maintain. This is all thanks to their light weight and easy-clean design. Because they are resistant to weather erosion and chemical corrosion, you can enjoy a GRP grating for its entire 25 year life plus.

Manufactured according to ISO 9001, the structural integrity of the GRP gratings is high grade
