Case Study
Four Tees Engineers Ltd is an established specialist steelwork contractor based on the south coast that provides new and repairs to existing metallic structures in the rail, highways, marine engineering and water treatment sectors.
When it came to refurbishment and the safety screening of an overline pedestrian footbridge, GripClad were only too pleased to help.
Precision Cutting
This job required precision and cutting to specification, one of GripClad’s specialities. Using the 51 drawings that were presented to us, we cut to size our 22mm Mini Mesh GRP Grating.
A sturdy, durable safety solution on an overline footbridge
This highly durable GRP surface required no welding, no hot work permits or hazard assembly techniques. There was also no painting required due to its green pigment throughout the grating panels. Looking ahead to the future, it will be virtually maintenance-free with very minimal maintenance to worry about, such as ad-hoc periodic cleaning.
35 grating stocked size panels were cut to specific shapes and sizes to produce 51 panels for the footbridge, which is now fully enclosed, open and safe for the general public.
The benefits of using GripClad’s Mini-Mesh GRP Grating
Looking for safety barriers for your footbridge or overpass? Here are 10 reasons you should use GRP Grating for Footbridge Safety.
- Lightweight – The lightweight design of GripClad’s Mini-Mesh grating means that it can be handled easily and manoeuvred with little distribution
- Durable – GripClad’s Mini-Mesh grating is made from glass-reinforced plastic (GRP), which makes it very strong and durable. It is also resistant to corrosion and does not rust or corrode like metal grating does.
- Easy to install – Fuss-free fitting enables quick installation without causing damage.
- Maintenance Free – Install with peace of mind with a design life of 25 years.
- Non Conductive – Safe from electrical conductivity, our GRP Grating will maintain its structure and reliability and hold strong under intense heat.
- Spark Resistant – Safety first, providing protection against fires, explosions and the production of toxic gases.
- Corrosion Resistant – Unlike steel, GRP Grating won’t rust or corrode away and is highly resistant to wear, tear, impact and abrasion.
- Colour Pigmentation – Hassle-free, no painting is required as the panels are pigmented, providing a nice aesthetic on installation.
- UV Stable – A high resistance to ultraviolet light.
- Versatile – Supplied in various different panel sizes, thicknesses and colours (green, beige or light grey). GRP Grating is suitable for use in an extensive number of industries and environments.
